The neurodivergent grouping encompasses a range of neurological variations that reflect diversity in how people experience and interact with the world. These variations are part of the broad spectrum of human neurodiversity.

  1. Autism Spectrum – People have varying degrees of difficulty with social interactions and communication, alongside restricted interests and repetitive behaviours. Autism is a spectrum, highlighting the wide range of experiences and traits among individuals.

  2. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) – This includes challenges with maintaining attention, impulsivity, and, for many, hyperactivity. People with ADHD may also experience immense creativity and a capacity for hyper-focus on areas of interest.

  1. Dyslexia – A variation affecting reading, writing, and spelling. Those with dyslexia often have strengths in areas like problem-solving and creative thinking.

  2. Dyspraxia (Developmental Coordination Disorder) – Affects physical coordination and may impact daily activities. Individuals might have strong verbal skills and excel in creative thinking.

  1. Tourette Syndrome Characterised by involuntary sounds and movements. Many people with Tourette’s or tic disorders possess unique talents and perspectives.

  2. Dyscalculia – Affects the ability to understand numbers and learn math facts. People with dyscalculia often excel in verbal communication and creative arts.
